Mary Farrell left one crossword puzzle unsolved

A ruthless Scrabble opponent, and a dogged master of crosswords, we send her home with one last puzzle: 1. Where Mary has gone. 2. It comes in iron or a legal folder. 3. Hank's credo " ______ give an inch". 4. Bumble ___. 5. English beverage, with a pronoun. 6. Opposite of 'different'. (H/T Peter Elikann)

Aileen Bott, 94, a fashionista retailers will miss

She enjoyed her dates in the evening with Johnny Walker. She had her faults…her singing was painful to listen to which brought a smile to others. Shopping at big box stores for one person is not a good idea, and she had a craft room that could be considered hazardous when entering. (H/T Peter Elikann)

Douglas White, 68, left his mark on a city

Dougie, guardian and protector of this fair city, loved his job whether it was haunting his driveway in full Halloween regalia in July, running the roads on his souped-up bike (aka the Ghost Rider), singing the oldies at the car show, collecting bottles, playing ball with the neighborhood kids, discussing the latest (and by latest I mean rerun) of Leave It to Beaver or Green Acres, or visiting with his beloved "constituents" and partaking in their food. Salvatore Buchetto,66, measured out at 73 1/2 inches, and a bouncing 232 pounds, 9 ounces

Devoted to a malfunctioning series of TR-6 autos, Sal single-handedly supported the used parts industry for that model over the years. An accomplished photographer, his "Photography by Salvatore" business captured the romance of hundreds of newly wedded couples. He supported Native American causes through his visits to state casinos, and was widely-read through his frequent contributions to the Stamford Advocate editorial page on a wide variety of serious and satirical topics. In tribute to Sal, it's rumored that big screen TVs across the state will be dimmed to half-brightness, and take-out cups of coffee will be served only half full. (It is expected that profits at County TV, Best Buy, Dunkin Donuts and Donut Delight will drop significantly.) Sal was a long time member of Grace Evangelical Church on Courtland Avenue, and loved Jesus. (H/T to Peter Elikann)

Jason Sheftell,46, well-loved New York City journalist

He walked fast, talked fast, did everything fast. Jason Sheftell was a human whirlwind, racing through each day at 100 mph, savoring every minute of his existence. People like that usually have time for no one. Yet, Jason had time for everyone. And that is why, after news spread of his passing on Monday, the outpouring of emotion on social media was so profound, the grief so deep. (H/T Peter Elikann)
